The campaign
A fast-growing digital bank needed to convert strong app-store performance into general market credibility. Their audience already knew challenger banking existed; what they doubted was whether a bank without branches could be trusted with their salary.
That framing shaped the media plan. The objective was not reach for its own sake — it was permanence. A brand that appears consistently in the physical environment reads as established in a way that digital advertising alone does not achieve.
We selected 18 sites in four districts chosen for audience rather than volume: Victoria Island for the professional segment, Ikeja for the commercial and government workforce, and Surulere and Yaba for the younger, mass-market audience driving the client's account growth.
Portrait formats carried the bulk of the campaign. The vertical format suits the dense urban streets of Surulere and Yaba, where landscape structures cannot be permitted, and it sits well in the sightline of both drivers and the very high pedestrian volumes those areas generate. Two large wall drapes in Surulere and Ikeja anchored the campaign with landmark-scale presence.
Creative was deliberately restrained — a single product claim, the brand mark at scale, and nothing else. We advised against including app-store badges and QR codes, which do not read at distance and dilute the one message that does.
The campaign ran for three months without creative rotation, on the reasoning that consistency builds the trust the brief was actually asking for.
Results
Direct and branded organic traffic to the client's site rose 43% in the Lagos region over the three months, with the sharpest movement in the Surulere and Yaba segments where the client had previously been weakest.
New account registrations attributed to the Lagos region grew 28% quarter on quarter. The client's own tracking recorded a 12-point increase in unprompted brand awareness among the 25–34 segment.
The campaign was renewed for a second quarter with six additional sites.
